If you’re in the Daytona Beach Area with a car that has no keys and no title, you can still donate it through BeachMoto Aid. Both problems are fixable. The keys are the easy part: as long as a tow truck can safely reach and load your vehicle, we can arrange a flatbed pickup without keys. The title is the critical part: Florida requires a title in your name before we can complete your donation and issue your tax receipt.
Here’s how it usually works for donors in Daytona Beach, Ormond Beach, Port Orange, Holly Hill, South Daytona, and nearby communities. First, you request a duplicate or replacement Florida title through the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) or your local tax collector’s office. That typically costs a small fee and takes about 1–4 weeks, depending on processing. Once your duplicate title arrives and you’ve signed it, we schedule your free tow. You simply tell us the car has no keys and where it’s parked—apartment lot off International Speedway Blvd, driveway in LPGA, condo garage in Daytona Beach Shores, or a storage lot. We send the right truck, pick it up at no cost to you, and you receive your tax-deductible receipt.
How to get your free pickup scheduled
1. Confirm you’re the legal owner of the vehicle
Before anything else, make sure the car was last titled in your name, or that you’re the legal heir/authorized owner. If you’re in Daytona Beach, Ormond Beach, Port Orange, or nearby, check any old registration, insurance cards, or loan payoff documents. This is what allows you to request a duplicate Florida title so your donation can be completed in your name and you can receive the tax deduction.
2. Apply for a Florida duplicate or replacement title
The title is the critical piece. Visit the FLHSMV website or your local Volusia County tax collector’s office (Daytona Beach, New Smyrna Beach, etc.) and request a duplicate title for your vehicle. Expect a modest state fee and about 1–4 weeks processing. Start this step now. Once the duplicate title arrives in the mail, you’ll be ready to officially sign the car over to BeachMoto Aid.
3. Gather basic vehicle info while you wait
While the duplicate title is processing, jot down your car’s VIN, year, make, model, and current location—driveway in Holly Hill, street parking near Beach Street, apartment lot in South Daytona, or a storage yard. Note that it has no keys and whether it rolls or is blocked in. This information helps us and the tow operator plan the right flatbed equipment for a no-key pickup.
4. Call or submit our online form to start the donation
Once your duplicate title is on its way or in hand, reach out to BeachMoto Aid. We’ll ask a few questions, confirm that the vehicle has no keys, and review your title status. If your title has already arrived, we’ll explain exactly where to sign it. If it’s still in process, we can pre-qualify your donation and help you time your pickup around when the title is expected to arrive.
5. Schedule free keyless tow pickup in the Daytona Beach Area
When you have your duplicate title in hand, we’ll book a free tow anywhere in the Daytona Beach Area—Daytona Beach Shores, Ormond-by-the-Sea, Port Orange, DeLand, and more. Be sure to tell us clearly that there are no keys and describe access (tight condo garage, sloped driveway, gated community). We’ll send a flatbed or other suitable truck that can load a non-running, no-key vehicle safely at no cost to you.
6. Hand over the signed title and receive your tax receipt
On pickup day, you provide the signed Florida title to the tow driver; no keys are required for the donation. We’ll process your vehicle for auction or recycling, and BeachMoto Aid’s proceeds support Heritage for the Blind’s programs for people who are blind or visually impaired. You’ll receive a tax receipt—usually at least $500 in deductible value—with IRS Form 1098-C used if your deduction exceeds $500.
Potential complications to watch for
Your name must match the name on the title record
Tip: Florida will only issue a duplicate title to the legal owner. If the vehicle was last titled in someone else’s name (ex, a parent or ex-spouse), you may need additional legal paperwork before you can donate. Check old registration or FLHSMV records early so there are no surprises when you request your duplicate title.
Lien or loan still shown on the Florida title record
Tip: If there was ever a loan on the car, the state may still show a lien. You’ll need proof the loan is paid off or lien release documentation before a clean duplicate title can be issued. Contact your lender or check with the Volusia County tax collector’s office before starting the donation so you don’t get delayed at the title step.
Vehicle blocked in or inaccessible for a flatbed tow
Tip: A car with no keys must be reachable and loadable by a tow truck. If it’s nose-in in a tight garage, blocked by other vehicles, or stuck in sand or grass, let us know. You may need to move other cars, clear obstacles, or coordinate with your HOA or apartment management so the flatbed can get close enough to safely load the vehicle.
Out-of-state or salvage titles for Daytona Beach transplants
Tip: If the last title was from another state or marked salvage, the duplicate title process may differ. You might need to work with that original state’s DMV rather than Florida. Tell us where the car was last titled, and we’ll explain what questions to ask the DMV so you end up with a transferable title that BeachMoto Aid can accept for donation.
