How the car donation process works
Start your Daytona Beach Area donation
Begin by telling BeachMoto Aid about your vehicle and where it is located. We can help arrange pickup throughout Daytona Beach and nearby communities such as Ormond Beach, Port Orange, South Daytona, Holly Hill, Daytona Beach Shores, and DeLand. You do not need to know the exact value of your vehicle before starting. Cars that run, need repairs, have high mileage, or have been sitting in a driveway may still help the mission. Once your basic vehicle information is received, the next step is scheduling a convenient free tow.
Your vehicle is picked up for free
After your donation is accepted, a licensed towing provider contacts you to arrange a pickup time that works for your schedule. Free towing is available at homes, apartments, businesses, repair shops, storage locations, and many other accessible pickup points across the Daytona Beach Area. Whether your vehicle is near the beachside, Mainland, Midtown, Pelican Bay, or outside the city limits, the goal is to make the process easy. At pickup, you will receive initial donation paperwork, and your vehicle begins the path toward generating proceeds for Heritage for the Blind.
The vehicle is sold to create charitable proceeds
Once picked up, your vehicle is processed for sale through an appropriate resale or auction channel. The selling price depends on the vehicle’s condition, age, mileage, demand, and market factors. BeachMoto Aid does not promise or invent a value before the vehicle sells. Instead, the sale creates the actual proceeds that support the charity. For this program, 100-percent of vehicle sale proceeds go to Heritage for the Blind, a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit, EIN 58-2164446, so your donation is tied directly to mission support.
Proceeds fund services for blind and visually impaired people
Heritage for the Blind uses vehicle donation proceeds to support services for people who are blind or visually impaired. A key part of that work is helping individuals understand and connect with government benefits and assistance programs that may improve stability and independence. These may include SSI, SSDI, LIHEAP, Section 8, Medicare Extra Help, Medicaid, and related support resources. If you, a loved one, or someone in your community wants to check potential eligibility for assistance programs, visit nhftb.org/finder to get started.
Receive tax documentation after the sale
Because Heritage for the Blind is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, EIN 58-2164446, eligible vehicle donations may be tax deductible for donors who itemize deductions. If your donated vehicle sells for more than $500, Heritage provides IRS Form 1098-C showing the gross sale price. Under IRS rules, that gross sale price is generally the deduction amount for vehicles sold over $500. Keep your receipt and tax form with your records, and consult a qualified tax professional if you have questions about your personal filing situation.
